Tools, Timber & Techniques
Tools, Timber & Techniques
On Saturday 14th October we were at Timbecon’s Tools, Timber & Techniques open day, and had an early start so that we could get the FWWA banners and media wall up and running for an 8.30am start.
There were over 17 stalls and plenty of familiar faces amongst the exhibitors, including Tracey and Rob from Perth Kid’s Shed with lots of their kits for children to build and courses galore, Rajeev from Ebonisto’s had brought along his bamboo drills and was demonstrating a whole range of his Japanese Saws, and of course David was there from Perth Wood School with a great range of timber for sale and details of all his courses.
Allan had set up his workbench with all his tools and was soon busy demonstrating the “gentle art of Kumiko.”
Ian had brought along some of his veneer panels and elements of work, to show people how all these intricate pieces come together to make a beautiful work of art.
I took along two of my boxes and was trying to build small money trays for a Mahjong set, without much success.
We were kept busy in the morning and had quite a lot of people asking questions, and even though we had our own gazebo and umbrella, it was hot in the marquee and therefore it was much quieter during the afternoon.
We had an entertaining day, talking to everyone with a couple of application forms completed, and time to look around all the stalls.
On behalf of FWWA I would like to thank Allan Waugh , Ian Houghton, Barry Viner and Peter Banks for help with setting up and talking to everyone throughout the day.
